History

Background


Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Council approved to construct study center of Nong Khai Campus in Wat That Phanom Temple, That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province at the meeting of the University Council No. 2/2539. Subsequently, University Council passed the resolution in elevating the status of the study center to be Buddhist College at the meeting of the University Council No. 8/2541 (27 August 1998). This College was established in order to expand opportunities in learning modern scientific education (not against the rules of monks) for monks and novices in the region, to be place for academic research source in the field of Buddhism, to support and preserve local arts and cultures, and to be a center of coordination on the dissemination and rehabilitation of Buddhism in countries in Indochina.
